The founder of Astrophysics Inc., Francois Zayek has over 26 years of experience in instrumentation with 8 of those in Physical Optics and 18 in X-Ray Imaging for medical and security applications. He is well recognized by civil aviation administrations around the globe. His key contributions include the design and development of a new instrument based on x-ray backscatter for underground mine detection.

Prior to founding Astrophysics Inc., Francois also founded Xaytek and was the VP of Research and Development and VP of Engineering for PerkinElmer - also known as EG&G Astrophysics (1995-2000). In this capacity, he was the principal investigator for several projects including one for the development of a new CTl project that was funded by the FAA.

From 1987 to 1995, he was the Director of Research and Development at Bio-Imaging Research. He also worked as a Consultant for Toshiba Medical where he designed and developed Multi-Slice CT equipment for medical applications.

Today, Astrophysics has grown into a successful company with a presence in over 100 countries, a base of over 1,000 customers and an installation base of over 3,500 units. In its short time span, the company has grown to become the leader in technology innovation in its market.
